What if a festival were less a place to simply view art, and more a place to <\/span>step inside the creative process, meet the people making the work, and explore new ways of inhabiting the world?<\/b><\/p>\n On <\/span>August 22 and 23<\/b>, ccdMalvina presents the first edition of <\/span>Festival Malvina<\/b>: two afternoons of creation, experimentation and encounters in the heart of the Malvina landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n The culmination of <\/span>Symbioses of Intelligences<\/b>, the Festival opens to the public the living laboratory that has unfolded at Malvina throughout the summer. Artists, researchers and technology specialists bring <\/span>human, artificial, environmental and collective intelligences<\/b> into dialogue, asking how we might rethink our relationships with the body, the living world and the land.<\/span><\/p>\n On Saturday, Canadian sculptor <\/span>Royden Mills<\/b> will unveil <\/span>The Malvina Horse<\/span><\/i>, a life-size sculpture created during his residency at ccdMalvina.<\/span><\/p>\n Made of metal and wood, the work celebrates the essential role of the horse in the lives of the families who settled in Malvina and Saint-Malo. <\/span>Names of ancestors shared by the community have been engraved into the wood and incorporated into the sculpture<\/b>, bringing contemporary creation, collective memory and the history of the land together.<\/span><\/p>\n The Festival will also unveil new works by <\/span>Sean Caulfield<\/b>, some created in collaboration with <\/span>Isabelle Van Grimde<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n An unexpected encounter between the anatomical representations of <\/span>Andreas Vesalius<\/b>, <\/span>artificial intelligence<\/b>, the artistic worlds of Caulfield and Van Grimde, and <\/span>the vegetation and landscapes of Malvina<\/b>. Anatomical forms shift and metamorphose, entering into new relationships with plant life and the land.<\/span><\/p>\n On Sunday, <\/span>Hela Zahar<\/b>, Professor of Digital Cultures at the Universit\u00e9 de l\u2019Ontario fran\u00e7ais, will present <\/span>Generative AI and Environmental Visual Culture: Towards Eco-Responsible Practices?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n A <\/span>roundtable moderated by anthropologist Isabelle Lemelin<\/b> will then bring together artists, researchers and specialists to explore the relationships between <\/span>art, artificial intelligence, the environment and territory<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n Throughout the weekend: <\/span>outdoor art trails, virtual reality, guided tours, films, podcasts, workshops and artist encounters.<\/b><\/p>\n Two days to walk, create, experiment and exchange \u2014 and to discover Malvina as a place where art, memory, the living world and technology meet.<\/b><\/p>\n FESTIVAL MALVINA<\/b>When memory becomes material<\/span><\/h3>\n
